Dr. Brianna Gaynor, Psy.D., is a clinical psychologist licensed in Georgia since 2011. She received her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology in 2009. Her graduate school training focused primarily on the treatment of children, adolescents, and families. During her internship, Gaynor was also trained in faith-based therapy and, although not a traditional Christian counselor, has learned how to incorporate faith-based techniques for those clients who express a willingness to hear the word of God.

Dr. Gaynor has worked in various settings — outpatient, residential, and a mental health hospital — helping children, teenagers, and their families heal from significant histories of trauma and emotional disorders. Currently, she works at her own private practice, Peace of Mind Psychological Services, where much of her work focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of various Mental Health disorders — Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, and Behavioral Disorders — through psychological evaluations. Peace of Mind Psychological Services also specializes in helping the whole family by providing therapy services, starting from age two through adulthood.

Dr. Gaynor grew up as an only child in a single-parent household and, at an early age, learned the value of friendship and service. As a teen, she often found herself giving advice to others. When she decided to pursue Psychology, it combined her love of knowledge and people with effective methods to help them through emotional difficulties. What Dr. Gaynor  enjoys most about her profession is the opportunity to connect with people and help encourage them through their troubles.

Dr. Gaynor has a passion for Mental Health and has repeatedly noticed the healing effects of her skills. Through personal and professional experiences, she has seen the detrimental effects of not getting much needed assistance. Dr. Gaynor has heard apprehension from patients of many different ethnicities, cultures and backgrounds about coming for help. These same patients have also admitted that receiving psychological services ultimately was not what they expected. Therefore her goal is to demystify the stigma associated with Mental Health.

Dr. Gaynor co-authored a manual with her colleague Dr. Ashley Loyd, “Getting to the Core of Anger,” which was presented at the Leading Age Conference in 2014. Her dissertation addressed risk factors, protective factors and parenting behaviors commonly associated with inter-generational sexual victimization. For over a year, she was a speaker with the Second Saturdays organization, which provides legal, financial, and mental health information for people contemplating divorce.

Dr. Gaynor has a unique way of connecting with others through humor and kindness.  In her spare time Dr. Gaynor volunteers with families who have experienced displacement and financial difficulties and has a unique passion for working with youth in both a professional and mentoring role. Her goal; to help others “find peace in every circumstance.”
